A Joyous Start to the New Year: Uva Spices Celebrates Togetherness
This April, the Uva Spices family came together to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year in true island style — with tradition, laughter, and heartfelt connection.
Set against the lush backdrop of our farmland in Sri Lanka’s Uva Province, the celebration brought together our staff, grower partners, and their families for a day full of fun and festivity. From classic Avurudu games like Kotta Pora, Kana Mutti, and lime-on-spoon races to the vibrant sounds of traditional drums, every moment was filled with joy.
Delicious Avurudu sweets like kavum, kokis, and mung kevum were shared as everyone joined in dancing, games, and friendly competition. Dressed in colorful traditional attire, our team reflected the warmth and unity that define our culture and values.
The celebration also included a moment of gratitude — recognizing team members whose dedication and passion continue to drive Uva Spices forward.
While we take pride in growing some of the finest organic spices and produce, it’s our people who are truly at the heart of what we do. This New Year celebration was a reminder that beyond the harvests, it’s the bonds we cultivate that matter most.
